This Week's Top 10

*image via Julia's post featuring three delicious looking patriotic desserts!

1. Summerfest (Milwaukee's music festival) started on Wednesday night, but there was a thunderstorm so bad that there was a tornado watch, and I wasn't about to get in the middle of that! I am hoping to go tonight though; I have been looking forward to this and was so bummed it rained on opening night!

2. On the blog this week:
My hair struggles and shampoo that's custom-formulated to help (shop here for $5 off)
An outfit featuring a bright top perfect for going out, to work, or to a BBQ. (shop it here; under $40!)

3. Fourth of July is on Tuesday! I am so excited that I have Monday off too... hey there, half week! Did you check out my round-up of some of the cutest red, white, and blue pieces?

My Hair Struggles

Okay... I have to admit that I really don't do the best job of taking care of my hair. When it comes to my shampoo and conditioner, I usually opt for Herbal Essences in whatever color bottle my mom restocks me with, and for product after the shower I use one serum that's been a part of my routine for about six months. Other than that? Well, there's really not much to say. I never remember to use my heat protectant before doing my hair, and actually doing my hair at all is something that happens maybe once a week. So... when Function of Beauty reached out to me about their non-toxic, sulfate-free customizable shampoo and conditioner, I knew I needed to take this opportunity to get something good going for my hair.

Orange Bow Top

I bought this top a couple weeks ago when I ran to the mall on a whim before heading down to Chicago for a family friend's graduation party. Surprised by the incredible sale where I found this top, I had to snatch it and I have been loving it ever since! Not only did I wear it to that graduation party, but I styled this particular look for a dinner out, and I have also worn it under a jacket with flats to my internship.

Weekend Recap

Weekends with no plans are the best weekends, and even more so in the summer. This weekend I wasn't sure what I would be up to, but I ended up doing some of my favorite things and enjoying the beautiful weather we had here in Wisconsin. From a 10 mile bike ride to dinner with friends to Strawberry Fest on Sunday, my weekend was filled with the perfect balance of fun activity and relaxation.

This Week's Top 10

1. These suede lace-up sandals are amazing and currently on sale for under $100!

2. On the blog this week...

Small Space Decor because I'm officially going to University of Wisconsin and living in an apartment with my best friend!
Fourth of July pieces because we are less than two weeks away from the most patriotic day of the year.
My summer reading list because I am really trying to be more productive and read more. I'd love to hear your book recs!

3. Be on the lookout for this cute top that I'll be featuring here next week (just went on sale, too!).

Summer Reading List + Goals

As if I haven't already brought it up enough: I am trying to read more. Because of how crazy my life has been (and probably will be for the entirety of the summer), I am focusing on time-management and trying to get used to "busy" being my new normal. We all have the same amount of hours in the day, and getting everything done that we want to accomplish is truly a work of a time management more than anything else. That said, if I want to read more, then read more I will! I just have to prioritize it.

Summer Whites

I originally had a different post planned for today, but after shooting a few outfits yesterday afternoon with my best friend Elizabeth (aka future roomie at University of Wisconsin!!!) I couldn't resist getting this outfit up as soon as possible. I talked about both this t-shirt and these linen pants in a Top 10 post a few weeks ago, and I just couldn't help myself, I had to have them! Not only are both of these pieces probably the most comfortable things you could ever wear, but the material is amazing on both, and the white is incredibly versatile for summer. I chose to style the pieces together with this amazing oyster necklace from Sea Dipped (not kidding when I say I'm obsessed with Sea Dipped... I think their jewelry is so cool, and each sale saves 10 baby sea turtles!! Omg.) and other simple gold accessories, but I totally plan on knot-tying the t-shirt and pair it with flowy shorts, and even trying the pants with a striped tee.

Two Weeks Until Independence Day

You guys... WHAT. Last time I checked, I was struggling to finish finals and anticipating summer so hard. Now? We are two weeks away from July. How does life keep moving so fast! I guess time flies when you're having fun, and especially when keeping busy with so many things you love.

Small Space Decor

After heading to the University of Wisconsin this weekend to look at apartments, I am giddy to announce that I think I made up my mind about next semester's plan :) I love the thought of an apartment with a bedroom that's both my own and larger than a shoebox, non-communal bathrooms, and a kitchen (goodbye, dining halls!). Did I mention an infinity pool on the roof, hot tubs and workout facilities a few floors below me, and in-unit laundry! (Yes, I am excited about the in-unit laundry. My laundry skills freshman year were extremely horrific and sub-par at best)

This Week's Top 10

1. Happy Father's Day weekend! Although I'm not heading to Dallas to see my dad, my grandparents are in town and I will be able to spend Sunday with my grandpa. If you need any last minute gift ideas, check out my gift guide here.

Big Thanks!

We are halfway through the week! Thank you to each and every one of you for helping me reach my goal of 10,000 followers on Instagram... when I hit the milestone on Monday night I was seriously so excited that I may or may not have had a little dance party in my living room. I never want anyone to feel like I blog just for the "perks" and for followers, but we would all probably be lying to ourselves if we said those things don't matter! I have loved connecting with each of you over the last five years (and counting) and I look forward for all of the fun to come!

Father's Day Gift Guide

I would be lying if I said Father's Day hasn't completely crept up on me. I started my internship yesterday after a crazy packed-full weekend at Caroline's lake house on Saturday and a graduation party in Lincoln Park, Chicago on Sunday. I am trying to work on getting into a routine now that my "summer job" has officially begun, and I am working on feeling better about my college transfer process, but things are a little overwhelming right now in all honesty. However, I took a little time last night to pick out some fun gifts for anyone else in the same boat as me who still needs to find something fitting for Dad this weekend!

This Week's Top 10

1. Last night a local Milwaukee wedding planner held such a fun event at the brand new Kendra Scott store in town. I went with a couple of friends, and I snagged these earrings on sale. Sips, sweets, a photo booth... it was so much fun and the store is gorgeous.

2. The store is at a completely new mall entirely, and there is also a Free People. We had too much fun trying on clothes after we had left Kendra Scott, and now I think I need this slouchy teethese linen casual pants, and these navy silk shorts (all under $100!). Oh, and afterwards, tableside guac was necessary.

What's New!

Hello! I am back after another week off from blogging. I know, I'm the worst. But... things have been crazy around here. Let me fill you in.
