Summer Bucket List

summer bucket list 2018

This summer feels like the first one ever where I have few plans in terms of vacations and things that I'm doing in general. In addition to my internship, most of my "plans" consist of coming home to read my book or go on a run. I'm not kidding, my life right now isn't boring, but nothing too thrilling is going on. I am going to West Palm Beach for my birthday at the end of August, but other than that I have no plans! I am considering flying out to New York later this month or next because I usually go every summer, but nothing is set in stone.

Summer Bucket List

This weekend was the first time that it really hit me that it's summer. I spent all day Saturday having a picnic at the beach, Saturday night Carin and I went to watch the bike races and stopped at a music festival, and yesterday I went to Strawberry fest and went on a hike. It just hit me though how little time I have left to soak it all in, and I want to make the most of this summer!

In the spirit of going cliff jumping today (!!!), I wanted to share a few more fun things I hope to do this summer:

I've already crossed some things off, so those few adventures didn't make the cut... like riding out of the top of Carin's Jeep (so fun having people watch in amazement as you cruise by), blasting country music everywhere I go, hitting the beach, going on hikes, making s'mores and having a bonfire, etc.

I even booked a fun weekend trip with one of my best friends coming soon, and Summerfest starts this week. I'm especially excited for today in particular because I'm going cliff jumping with my boyfriend at this really cool park a couple hours away. We went hiking there back in February, but it'll be super fun to cliff jump and see the park in the summer.

Top 5 Things I've Done This Summer

I always get into a habit every summer of thinking I'm not doing anything when in reality, I have. I thought it would be fun to share my top five favorite things that I've done this summer to give you all a little inspiration if you're looking for something to do with friends that's both fun and summer bucket list-worthy. With Fourth of July tomorrow, I am getting close to the halfway point of my summer and wanted to do sort of a halfway, broader summer recap!

Fall Bucket List

Labor Day always marks the end of summer for me, and probably most people at that. This weekend in St. Louis for field hockey was so fun and incredibly hot. Over 100 degree weather for three days straight (and even higher temps on the turf field) was just what I needed to feel satisfied with summer weather and ready for fall. Being a senior in high school comes with a bit of a nostalgic side to it, so in honor of this final year, I want to make a little bucket list to make sure I make the most out of the time I have left with my friends here at home!

Last year apple picking and a haunted house were some of the highlights of fall for me. This year, I want to recreate some of those memories in addition to a few more! I will be getting another French exchange student this year, but this time a boy, and I think it would be so fun to go for a hike somewhere when the leaves are changing.

What's on your fall bucket list?

This Week's Top 10

via my Instagram

1. I am heading to Minnesota for the first time this weekend! I'm going out to surprise my friend for her birthday and I'm so excited to both visit a new place and surprise her (a high school friend!) with a few of my other best friends from high school.

2. I shot photos on Wednesday night with my co-intern Koryn, who has her own photography company. I love how the photos turned out and definitely recommend her if you need a photographer in the Milwaukee area.

3. This week on the blog I shared my summer bucket list and Father's Day gift guide!

This Week's Top 10

Oh heyyy! It's been a hot minute since I shared a "This Week's Top 10" Let's get into it!

1. FRIDAY! Only two and a half weeks until I'm done with this semester and off of school for the summer! Um, how are there 3 inches of snow on the ground??

2. On the blog this week I shared part one and part two of my recaps from my spring break trip to London, as well as my bedroom tour in my apartment here at school. Which post was your favorite?

3. Topshop killed it with their new arrivals. I love this skirt, these shorts, these shorts too, and this dress. Everything is under $100!

My Quarantine Meltdown

I really try to keep things light and positive around here, but I have to admit, I finally had a mini-meltdown last week. I hinted at this in my caption of this photo on Instagram, and I got quite a few DM's about it, so I thought I would just explain it all here.

Fourth of July

Can you believe it's already the Fourth?! Every summer it doesn't really feel like we've officially gotten into the summer state of mind until the Fourth of July, at least for me, and then the rest of the season just flies by! Summerfest started on Wednesday night and I have gone Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday (for Alabama Shakes!), and had a little pool party at Carin's on Friday with a few of our guy friends. Yesterday I spent the whole day at the lake with family friends just enjoying the sun on the pontoon boat and tubing! On my way home we stopped at a firework tent off the highway and my mom kind of let me go nuts picking out things to shoot off with my friends last night. It was actually so funny... we did a few sparklers, and then thought the other things I just were going to be little mini-fireworks like something that fizzed a few feet in there air. Oh, actually, we set off legit fireworks in a park. Cross that off my bucket list ;)

This Week's Top 10

1. I don't know about you, but going back to work yesterday after having Wednesday off for the Fourth was a challenge! I'm babysitting all day today but then I'm excited to have a more low-key weekend. I went to Madison last night to get the rest of my things out of my apartment, but we couldn't fit as much as expected and will probably need to make another trip soon. Safe to say, this past week has been a tiring one.

2. Earlier this week I shared the top five things I've done this summer as well as my June favorites round-up. On the Fourth I also shared some of the best sales (and my picks from each!), most of which are still going on!

3. I ordered this swimsuit a few weeks ago and it's my new favorite! I think the cut is so flattering and I love the bright color. It's on major sale right now + available in most sizes in five colors, so go snag it! I also got the matching bottoms. I also just discovered this brand and love this smocked bikini top!

This Week's Top 10

1. Friday! This week went by fast, but the days themselves felt long. It's like just Monday was just here, and at the same time, yesterday dragged on forever. For the first time in a couple of weeks I'm heading into Friday feeling like, for the most part, I had a "good" week. I worked out every morning before my internship, ate a little healthier, did some photoshoots for the blog, posted on here a few times... it felt good! How was your week?

2. Speaking of blog posts, here's what went on around here if you missed it:

3. Currently reading Modern Lovers by Emma Straub, and I'm having a hard time getting into it. I picked it up because it had amazing reviews, but I'm really struggling to keep going. If you've read it, I would love to hear your thoughts!
