Time To Cleanse

It can only be obvious that after 16 days of stuffing myself full of crepes, croissants, gelato, pizza, and seemingly more pastries, dinners, and drinks than I can imagine, that my body is in desperate need of a cleanse! Because I leave again for New York in just a little over a week (I could not be more excited // my post on the SGG conference here), I am going to try my absolute hardest to cut out a little junk food here and there and bump up my exercise levels!

Of course, we all know this won't last... but a girl can dream. Someone please motivate me.

Here is a small list of some of the healthiest and most clean foods for your body! I'm going to try to incorporate as many of these into my diet this week as possible (watch out, maybe a few recipes will be coming your way!)
-Avocados, Spinach, Broccoli
-Salmond, Almonds
-Tomatoes, Blueberries
-Quinoa (see my quinoa recipe here!)

Do you have any tips/suggestions for a cleanse? I don't know if this is really even considered one, but comment below with any advice! I'll need all the motivation I can get.

Tips for Surviving Long Vacations

As I return home after another two week vacation tomorrow, I am truly so grateful for the memories and the experiences I had and the time I spent here in Europe! However, as most vacations seem to go for me, I am beyond exhausted and so so ready to be heading home.

I grew up going on week long vacations to the East Coast and and random other states for spring break, family events, etc., but as of late, this trip, and especially France back in the spring, and a few others here and there have really gotten to me... I just can't handle vacations that last longer than a week or so! I feel so burned out and my FOMO (fear of missing out) has hit an extreme when I think about my friends at home and what they're all up to.

Today I am sharing a few tips for how I've learned to cope with long trips and enjoy my adventures from arrival to departure!

Make sure to adapt early // Adjust to the time change, brush up on a few important phrases if there's a language barrier where you're traveling, etc. Making yourself feel a little more at home in the city/state/country that you're visiting will making the whole trip a lot more comfortable!

Don't ask for details from your friends // Hearing about the party last night while you were on the top of the Eiffel Tower makes even Paris look boring when you could've been hanging out with friends! You can always ask about what they've been up to when you get back, and chances are hearing about their week or days while you've been gone will just make you sad.

Get into a little bit of a routine // Getting enough sleep, making a plan for each day, and little things that will keep you energized and excited for your trip will help you avoid feeling too tired and cranky for exploring or sightseeing! I know for me, getting to bed early is a challenge especially when I'm on vacation, but it really is worth it.

What tips do you have?

London Street Style

Now that I'm onto my third country/city/destination (current location: Paris), I've developed a good eye for tourists and locals and locals with amazing street style. London was honestly such a wonderful city and I couldn't have enjoyed the people watching more. The street style? Beautiful.  Think: borrowed from the boys look with a tailored fit, and lots of skinny pants and pointy shoes.

Off to Europe

Four countries in just a little over two weeks... starts now!

Normandy, France

I've been looking forward to this trip for the last two years. As a sixteenth birthday present, my grandparents take us (the grandchildren) on a tour around Europe for a little over two weeks in the summer. When my brother went two summers ago with my other boy cousins, I loved the idea so much that I began planning my trip immediately. My cousin and I are just a year apart, and I love her so much so I am of course thrilled to spend some solid time with her and my grandparents these upcoming weeks. I've been looking forward to this trip for so long and I am so so so excited now that the time has come!

Positano, Italy

Despite the fact that we will be flying out to London today, I actually am not 100% sure on our itinerary for the whole trip. (#typical) However, I know it'll go a little something like this: London, Barcelona, Paris, Venice, Florence, Pisa, Rome.

I couldn't be more excited, but we haven't done too much planning, so if you have any recommendations in any of the cities above, please leave a comment or shoot me an email!

SGG Conference 2015

One thing that I am most excited for this summer is the Smart Girls Group conference, just like the one held last year! If you haven't purchased tickets yet, I would 100% recommend looking into this summer's conference held in NYC on July 10-12. The conference was one of the highlights of my summer last year and I can't think of any better way to connect with online friends, learn and hear a ton of cool presentations by amazing women, or experience New York City in a unique way!

Personally, one of my favorite things about the conference is just getting the chance to connect with the girls I love the most but rarely get to see! You can purchase tickets here, and see more information about the conference here.

Please let me know if you'll be coming, I would love to see you! (And don't hesitate to email me with any questions! I'm happy to share more about my experience, where I stayed, etc.)

Rhode Island Instagram Recap

Hi everyone! I'm finally back after a two-week totally unplanned blogging hiatus. I ventured out to Rhode Island for a week, came back and had field hockey all last week, but now I'm seriously devoting a little more time to my little spot here in lieu of my last few days of free time before I'll be off exploring a few European countries for the next two weeks! Today I want to share a few snaps from my trip to Rhode Island given that it may or may not have been my most favorite vacation I've ever been on so far! Traveling with my two best friends made it even better and seriously so much fun. I'd give anything to be sipping iced coffee on the cliff walk again...

Um, okay. First of all, there is a brand new Lilly store on Thames Street in Newport and it's so freaking cute I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I walked in! Before, there was just a preppy store (which is still right next store) that sold Lilly, VV, KJP, Jack's, etc. but now there is an actual Lilly store in Newport! The selection isn't the best, probably just given that it's a little smaller and still pretty new, but it's still such a fun and bright store.

One of my favorite streets in Newport has and always will be Bellevue Avenue. Not only are the mansions all lined up against the cliffs before the water, but the other "regular" (still huge) homes are on the other side of the street making just the most gorgeous view for a morning or afternoon stroll. My friends and I actually did the cliff walk and then walked back on Bellevue for a change of scenery and our 3 hour and 9.5 mile walk was nothing short of gorgeous.

A view from the cliff walk looking at a gorgeous family home over the water.

One of my traditions every time I'm in Newport is to grab lobster mac n' cheese one night (or more, I don't limit myself...) for dinner. Mac and cheese and lobster are my two favorite foods, and this amazing dish is so darn delicious, especially in the summer where the best seafood is right at my fingertips! If you're ever in Newport, I've tried lobster mac at a few different places, but I would definitely recommend stopping at the Landing for a taste.

Another one of my Newport faves is Chace n' Lulu boutique. I've always though the store sums up Newport perfectly.. classic style but not "overly preppy" while still being super fun all around. Every time I go in I always have to control myself for fear I'll buy out the whole store.

What are you up to this week?
