Starting Fresh

hello 2014

When I look back on this year, a lot has happened. A lot happens every year, but something about 2013 felt so significant. There were a million and one changes in my life, both good and bad, and they all impacted me tremendously. I've found myself living in the moment so often lately that I guess it only feels right to turn a new leaf and start a new year fresh (not that I have a choice... the clock will strike midnight and it will be 2014 tonight no matter if I'm ready or not!).

Tonight I'm excited to be going to a party and celebrating with my friends. Let me know what your plans are!

New Years Outfit

top: j. crew factory // skirt: j. crew // heels: h&m (similar) // ring: bauble bar // bracelet: bauble bar

Something about pink and navy and sequins just makes this outfit feel so right to wear to ring in the New Year... maybe because it's my three favorite things all in one!
What will you be wearing on New Years?

Inspiration

I feel like the few days post-Christmas can sort of throw us into a rut; the excitement that comes with the holiday seemed to have disappeared 30 minutes after that last gift was opened, or the realization that you ate 12 cookies yesterday has finally hit.

For me, I know I'll be spending this third day post-Christmas exercising (my cardio this week consisted of running across a parking lot... once) and organizing. I just got home last night around eight from St. Louis and have yet to unpack and clean my room, etc.

On the positive side, I'm too excited for a party tomorrow night to celebrate my friend's 16th birthday and felt a little inspiration was in order- and not to mention, but New Year's Eve is right around the corner!

What are your plans for this weekend?

Christmas Cheer

After receiving my camera for Christmas I shot maybe four outfit posts in one day... To say I'm obsessed is an understatement.

My cousin and I bundled up (or at least I did...) and had a bit too much fun taking pictures. Aren't my mittens whaley cute? ;)

On Me: ASOS Coat // Vineyard Vines Gloves (Similar) // Hunter Boots
On cHc: Frocket // Hunter Boots

Christmas in Cashmere

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas with lots of family, food, and a few gifts here and there... My favorite gift has to have been my new Nikon D3100 which I loved playing with all day yesterday!

My family celebrates in our pajamas, but I still feel I should look a little presentable. I pulled out my favorite J. Crew pajamas and cashmere sweater for snaps in front of the 13 foot tall tree!

How was your Christmas?

#tbt to fall

One day of exams down, two to go! Here's a fun little out-take from an outfit post I did a few months ago... Something about messy hair + distressed jeans + converse makes me feel like I'm cool or something (ha, kidding). If your interested in my hair routine see that post {here}, but I literally just wash it and let it air dry for this style!

xoxo

PS- Do I look hipster? eJm will probably think I'm crazy for saying that but I think this outfit is kind of totally hipster... or maybe that's because I'm used to all J. Crew everything?

Oh, Christmas Tree

Happy Monday! Sorry I've been MIA... With exams in (eep!) only two days, I've been super busy studying and haven't had much time for blogging. On the bright side, we put up our Christmas tree last night and I found a little time to share a few pictures...

Our tree isn't as full and big this year as it usually is, but I think we did a really nice job of hanging the ornaments this year! I love decorating our tree as we listen to Christmas music and load our tree with lights and ornaments! I really like the way we decorate because we don't overflow our tree with ornaments and the selection is usually more classic rather than random little finds, something I really like...

How do you decorate your tree?

Holiday Party Outfit Guide

holiday party outfit guide

Hello, hello! Can you tell I'm excited for the Holidays? I have so many fun posts planned for this month, and this one is a personal favorite. Who doesn't love a fun holiday party? Um, no one. The only challenge, as usual, is what to wear. Here are a few suggestions for the festivites of this season.

holiday

The soirée :: A fun dress accessorized to a t shows personal style and gives off a fun vibe saying "I'm ready to party!". This dress is so fun and I wouldn't mind ringing in the New Year in this number... Not to mention, that clutch is essential for the holidays.

Making an appearance at your mom's party :: #navyornothing am I right or am I right? This pink and navy outfit would make me not want to wear anything else to celebrate the holidays this season! I just bought this shirt and similar earrings and I'm obsessed... Now I know how to style it! Anyways, it's always fun (just kidding, it's never fun) to spend a little time at your parent's parties and it is so important to look presentable for the adults!

Your friend's get-together: Ahh for those fun yet casual nights in your friend's kitchens making cookies and watching movies and listening to holiday music, it's important to be both comfortable and cute! I'm kind of in love with this sweater-leather pants-tartan loafers combo. It's a little edgy for me but I would totally be willing to take a step out of my comfort zone for this ensemble!

Which outfit is your favorite?

Thankful For...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I hope you all have a fabulous day filled with gratitude, family and friends! I composed a list of things I'm thankful for and included not only the basics like family and friends, but also those things that we all take for granted every day... After doing a little service work last Saturday I really learned to appreciate more that I have a nice house, enough food to eat, water at my fingertips, etc.

What are you thankful for?
