Grey Sweater Trend

For my birthday I really wanted a grey sweater/sweatshirt. They make a great transition piece and they're so classic that I felt I needed one in my closet. Fortunately, grey sweaters are sort of trending right now, and there tons of options to choose from. Whether you prefer heather or charcoal, long sleeves or three quarters, wool or woven, there is most likely an option for anyone!

I'm in absolute love with the pocket and open-back options. The sweater I received is a surprise that you will see in an upcoming outfit post! I can't wait to style it in so many ways, considering this kind of piece will match with everything! Maybe I've found my go-to piece for fall?

What do you think of the "grey sweater trend"?

DIY: Cutoffs

I've been doing a lot to try and step out of my comfort zone and wear what I want rather than what I think I have to or what people want me to wear. One thing I just really want to do is DIY a pair of vintage jeans into high waisted cutoff shorts.

Call me crazy, but I'm kind of obsessed with this style of shorts.Who knows, maybe I'll make them and realize just exactly why I didn't hop on the bandwagon in the beginning! And knowing me, I will most likely fail at attempting them before I ever get to wear them...

What do you think of cutoffs?

Icon: Anna Wintour

I've had my fair share of idols and icons in my day, but no one can beat Anna Wintour in my book. The editor-in-chief of VOGUE, known for her bob and large sunnies, is just about as chic as people come these days.

Anna is in fact a fellow lover of gingham and stunning necklaces, and did you know that she's had that haircut for 25 years?

Anna, the queen of New York fashion week... Do you love her almost as much as I do?

J. Crew Fall 2013

I'm in love with the J. Crew fall collection. The colors, the styles, and the jewels are all perfect. My favorites...

J.Crew Fall 2013

I'm smitten over the necklace tee, wildflower necklace, and that darling vest!

What do you think of the new arrivals?

Facelift

I know I change my blog design allll the time, but I think we should all take a moment to respect that I kept it the same for almost 6 months ;)

I find it hard to stick to a "homemade" design because there is always something that could be fixed, compared to a professional design where everything looks immaculate. I think my new design looks rather professional considering that it is in fact, not professional.

I spent most of the morning googling and doing some serious trial and error with HTML codes. Let me tell you, adding a CSS is so much simpler than trying to find something in your blog's main, big HTML. I think playing around with this stuff is so much fun {call me a nerd!} and I'm really proud of some of the things that I accomplished!

What's new...
-New color scheme
-New header
-Tabs are more formal and positioned above the header
-Post titles are in all caps
-Break line underneath post title
-Sidebar has a border
-New social media icons (super cute, right?)
-New profile picture and about page
-New gadgets/gadget layout in sidebar

Isn't it amazing how such little things can make a big impact?

What do you think?

chill

Super relaxed yet incredibly chic... Looks kind of like what I might be sporting to the first football game of the season (!!!) tonight, right after my first field hockey game of the season!

Happy Friday!

FOCK YEAH

As I mentioned, last week was Field Hockey tryouts at my school. Field Hockey is huge at my school because it's a no-cut sport, so we have five times. The order from worst to best is JV3, JV2, JV1, VR (Varsity Reserve), and then Varsity.

Last year was my first year playing field hockey, so of course I made the JV3 team. JV2 and 3 are pretty much equal, as they are both freshman teams, JV1 is mostly as sophomore team, and then VR and Varsity are mostly juniors and seniors, but of course there are exceptions everywhere.

Welllll, because I just love field hockey so much, I played a ton this year during off season, and guess which team I made?! Varsity reserve!!! I am so proud of myself!

I typically play defense but I actually play forward now as my coach had me try and it, and I like it so much better! My goal this season is to score a goal :)

Wish me luck, our first game is tomorrow!

Lilly End of Summer Sale

Happy Wednesday! Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes yesterday! More on that to come :)

I'm halfway through my first week of school, and I just wanted to remind you all that if you haven't already, you should definitely check out the Lilly end of summer sale! Lilly only ever has two sales per year, so now is a good time to shop! Today is the last day!

I always manage to have something on the first day of the sale, so I can never order right away. Monday night I didn't get home until 6:30, and by that time almost half of the products were sold out in my size. Buuuuttt, I did manage to snag my homecoming dress!

The dress I got was the Sandrine dress in Tossing the Line. It was originally $188, but I got it for $64! Fabulous deal, I know!

I wish I could have gotten more, but like I said, stuff sells out so fast!
What did you purchase?

15

Today is my 15th birthday! To be completely honest, I think this is kind of an awkward post to write because I think I should mention that it's my birthday, but I don't really know what to say about it!

Because school started yesterday, this will be the first year that I've ever had my birthday in school. Not gonna lie, I'm completely dreading this! I've decided that I'm not going to use my birthday out-of-uniform pass because I think I would just prefer to be in uniform like everyone else! Also, I kind of want to see just how many people actually know it's my birthday without me spilling the beans... is that weird?

Have a great day!
xoxo

School

Welcome back days of no boys, complete and utter stress, carpool rides, uniforms, and unlimited amount of tests, homework, and football games and dances (at least for these first few months)!

I think it's safe to say that by this point, I am ready to go back to school, but I just wish I didn't have to. But then again, who really does?!

Let's hope sophomore year is just as wonderful as freshman year! (I'm actually not joking, freshman year was prettyyy amazinggg... minus the fact that my grades were kind of the opposite of that!)

Have a great school year if you start today too!

My obsession with ankle strap sandals has reached an all-time high, leaving me dying over these heels! Also, is that tank not just the prettiest shade of blue?

Happy Friday!

Review: Emi-Jay

Hello! I'm sure most of you have heard of the brand Emi-Jay, the original fancy hair-tie company. If you didn't know, Emi-Jay was actually founded by two 15 year old girls, Emily and Julianne. How fun!

I was so lucky to be sent a pack of hair ties and they are absolutely perfect!

I received the nautical pack and I love the navy/white combo.

Don't they look so nauti with my starfish charm bracelet?!

Another pack I absolutely love are the neon hair-ties!

Do you wear Emi-Jays?

What I'm Loving Wednesday: Bloggers My Age

I haven't done a What I'm Loving Wednesday in a while, and I was going to post this anyways, so I figured why not add another post to the series!

One big thing I love about blogging are the friends I get to make and the other blogs that I get to read. In all honesty, I love love love finding bloggers {around} my age because I feel that their blogs are the ones I like best. In fact, my four favorite blogs are all written by girls around my age!

***

1. Identical Ideals // Peyton and Madison are a little older than I am {they're in college} but their blog is hands-down one of my absolute favorites. Their style is perfect and they are twins, so I'm 10x more jealous! {Did I ever mention how bad I've always wanted a sister / twin sister?!}

2. Sailing The Sea of Style // I would say Sloane and I are fairly good blogger friends {she is so sweet, she emailed me when I was in NYC to see if we could meet up!} and I am addicted to her blog! Her outfit posts make me so envious of her unique, perfectly chic style!

3. Stripes and Peonies // Gracey, the blogger behind S+P is perfect! Her style is similar to mine but probably a million times more perfected, and she has a fabulous eye for interiors and definitely lives a charmed life.

4. Citrus & Style // Caroline and I are great friends in real life, so of course I couldn't forget about her! Her blog is wonderful!

What are your favorite blogs?

Stripes and Polka Dots

Because my last combined outfit post with E got such positive feedback, and because have photoshoots are almost too much fun, I decided why not bring back another one?

On Me: J. Crew top // J. Crew shorts // Jack Rogers
(similar) J. Crew belt // J. Crew bangles // Kate Spade Necklace // J. Crew headband

On E: Gap dress // Jack Rogers // (similar) J. Crew headband

Field Hockey

As I mentioned yesterday, I have field hockey tryouts starting today. In spite of that, I thought it would be fun to talk a little about the sport! First of all, it's obviously the best sport ever considering our very own royal Princess Kate plays it as well ;)

Field hockey is referred to as lacrosse on the ground or soccer with a stick, or simply just hockey on a field. It's a pretty simple game I would say, but there are a ton of different techniques and skills required to be a good player.

Each player has a stick which looks kind of like a giant candy cane shape, and the balls are really, really hard. Some of the techniques you have to know are how to hit, push, and pull the ball, and how to stay low and where to put your hands on the stick to get the best advantage.

I absolutely love field hockey and please do wish me luck this week at tryouts!

Do you play?

Au Revoir

Unfortunately, it is just that time of year again. Time to tip my hat off to summer and say farewell until next year! This is my last week of summer and with field hockey tryouts all week, I will surely be soaking up my last few days in the sun before ringing in the new school year.

This summer felt very short due to low temperatures and just a plain old shorter summer, but I couldn't have appreciated more these few months of relaxation!

When do you go back to school?

Happy Birthday Mackenzie!

Today is one of my favorite bloggers, Mackenzie from Design Darling's, birthday! Mackenzie is turning 24 and because of that, there is also 24% off a total purchase at DesignDarling.com {the boutique!}!!

I absolutely love Mackenzie's style, blog, and boutique, so I wish her a very happy birthday!

Camp

Happy Wednesday everyone! I'm currently at camp, so please don't mind too much that I only had time to schedule posts up to today! I will be back on Friday, so hopefully there will be an update by Saturday!

Have a great week!

Lucite Ghost Chair

Meet my latest lust: the lucite ghost chair! I'm in love with the chic touch this piece can add to a room or office, and I am dying to have one of my own. Although they are pretty pricey, you can bet you'll find a few in my future apartment!

If you shop around a bit, you can also find a few great deals on them... par example: this option.

What do you think of the chair?

Dainty Gold Necklace

For my birthday I am considering asking for a dainty gold necklace. I love the charm of an anchor or the personalized feel of my initial. Which would you choose?

The Vampire Diaries

{Damon / Ian Somerhalder; Elena / Nina Dobrev; Stefan / Paul Wesley}

Oh. My. Gosh. So first of all, if you don't follow me on Twitter, I suggest you do! But if you do follow me on Twitter, then you have probably noticed that I have been tweeting non-stop about "The Vampire Diaries" for the past week.

This show is seriously addicting. I mean, I watched a whole season (22 episodes) in one day, and that is a lot of TV no matter how much TV you typically watch. I'm not into the whole vampire thing, and besides my 2-3 regular shows that I watch, I'm not a big TV person either. But this show... It's almost too good.

Basically, it's about this girl, Elena {played by Nina Dobrev who, by the way, is like the definition of perfect}, who lives a pretty normal life until she realizes that she's dating a vampire and everything kind of just goes from there... It's hard to explain because something really big and dramatic happens in pretty much every single episode, but if you watch it, I can almost guarantee you won't be able to stop.

The main vampire characters are Stefan and Damon who are so attractive, and Stefan and Elena probably make just as fabulous of a couple {if not better!} than Chuck and Blair! Seriously, it's that good.

I'm so in love with this show! Do you watch it?
xoxo

PS- I just finished season 3 so don't give anything away if you're ahead!

Think Good Thoughts

My friend Instagrammed a picture about a week ago with this quote as the caption. I'd never heard it before so I didn't really think much of it, but a few days ago I noticed it all over Pinterest and it has really been sticking with me.

At this point, I've decided I should be more positive. I've been in a bit of a funk lately and I think it's time for me to take a step back and realize all that I have and appreciate my life for what it is.

Think good thoughts!
