Goals For 2019

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!! I hope you all had a fun and exciting New Year's Eve! I wanted to kick off the year by sharing a few goals for 2019. I never really make formal new year's resolutions, but there are a few things I hope to do this year and I always love hearing about what you all are hoping to accomplish too!

I reread my five goals for 2018 and even though I complete forgot about those intentions, I actually managed to stick to most of them! Here's a little recap:

1. Spend my time well -- I'd say that I did a decent job of this in 2018! At school I spent most of my free time heading to office hours, hanging out with friends, or doing something at least a little bit more productive than doing nothing at all.

2. Find a hair solution -- Moroccan Oil is truly a gift from God. I got the big bottle of this just about exactly a year ago, and one year later the bottle is gone and my hair is so much healthier. I will never stop using this!!

3. Work out 3x/week -- I don't think I exactly worked out at least 3 times every single week without fail, but I feel like I was really consistent about working out overall, which is good enough for me. I track most of my runs in the Map My Run app, and I logged over 500 miles this year, which is my best yet!

4. Read one book/month -- I didn't do this exactly, similar to the last one, but I read 16 books this year, so that essentially means I can check this off anyway. You can follow my Goodreads page here if you're interested!

5. Limit using my phone before bed -- I definitely did this unintentionally this year! I remember last year I would go on my phone before bed and be up for hours just checking Instagram or doing anything else unimportant, but this year I just kind of stopped. Now when I get into bed I don't even look at my phone and it's a much better feeling!

So, for 2019:

1. Stop overthinking every little thing -- I overthink everything until I drive myself crazy. Texting people, hanging out with people... I literally overanalyze every tiny situation and try to come up for reasons why things happen the way that they do in my head. It's so stressful. This year I just need to chill out and stop freaking out and go with the flow a little bit more.

2. Blog at least twice a week -- I have been consistently losing Instagram followers and not really seeing any growth with my blog for a little while now, and I really think it's because I've been inconsistent and sporadic. I love blogging and would love to see a little bit more growth this year, so this is the goal for now!

3. Be kinder.  -- Since high school I'd like to think I've come a long way in terms of being a good person. Honestly, I used to be a piece of work. I wasn't malicious, but I just didn't think of other people's feelings at all and was so extremely selfish. I know I still have a lot of work to do, so this year I just want to be more thoughtful of what I do or say before I do or say things, and more considerate of how my words and actions are going to make other people feel. I also know that I have a tendency to not show appreciation for people in my life, especially my parents, and even my friends sometimes. So often my mind is just like, "oh, whatever. who cares. this doesn't matter. this will blow over," but I really would like to have a year where it's not even necessary to think those things in the first place.

4. Be okay on my own -- I seriously think I am one of the most dependent people I know. Whether we're thinking in terms of doing my laundry or being in a relationship, I depend on other people far more than I should. Last semester I was convinced I couldn't do my laundry, I rarely went back to my apartment unless one of my roommates was home, and I depended on other people to determine my happiness at times when that just shouldn't have been the case. This year, like I said above, I just want to go with the flow, make decisions because they are the right decisions for myself, and depend a little less on others. After all, there are only three semesters left of college and my mom will kill me if I don't stop bringing my laundry home to her every break ;)

*maybe goal 4.5 is just to learn how to do my laundry. I think that would be a great place to start.

That's it for now! I'm sure I will think of some other goals as the year goes on but for now I would love to hear some of your resolutions or hopes for 2019! Thanks for stopping by!!
