Small Space Decor (Part IV)

This Friday I am heading back to Madison to move into my new apartment! I'm not actually staying at school for good, just moving things in, but it's hard to believe it's already this time of the year again. This past weekend my mom and I sent my brother off to the airport for his semester abroad, and by the end of August I, too, will be back at school.

Last month I shared an idea of what I was thinking for my room, but this weekend I ordered a few more additions and now I officially have a desk chair and area rug!

I mentioned in my last post that I painted my desk light blue, similar to the desk shown above. In my previous post I shared a navy desk, but the color of the desk above is much more similar to what mine looks like. I decided to go with the rug shown above in an 8x10 to fill the majority of the space in my room and carry out the blue theme while also being fairly bright! I'm very excited to see how I like this rug because I think it's so cute, and for being a large rug, it was just over $100! Not that I know much about rugs, but I think that's an amazing deal for the size and style.

I went with this desk chair because I love the shape and brass base. I knew I wanted a lucite chair, but most are so expensive! I found this one on Amazon Prime and it is a great deal

As featured in previous posts, I found this quatrefoil mirror at Target last summer and we had it in a hallway in our apartment this past year. This year I haven't decided if it'll go in my room or out in a common space of the apartment, but I'm sure we will find a place for it somewhere. Above my desk I'm thinking of making an inspiration board that I can change up throughout the year, and then doing a little gallery wall above my bed (like I did in my room last year) using these gold frames again.

Last year I didn't have as many throw pillows as I would've liked! I just had one (a navy fluffy one) and I kept thinking I'd find more and add them to my bed but never ended up doing that. I think it would be so fun to add this leopard pillow or this navy velvet pillow. My bedding is going to be the same white ruffled bedding I had in my apartment last year-- very similar to this option.

I'd love to see any of your room tours if you've shared them on your own blog or Instagram!
xoxo

  1. Fran, I'm always loooking for ways to spice up my room at home and my dorm - both of which are painfully small! I'm a huge fan of the rug, mirror, and lamp!

  2. What a great price for that rug! I've been searching for one for our basement to bring in some more color without being too overwhelming, so I may have to pick that one up!
