July Playlist + New Music Releases

Helloooooo my favorite month of the year! It's August!!!!! Happy leo sznnnnn! I'm biased because it's my birthday month, but I really do love August. Every year this means fun vacations, the end of whatever summer job I've been up to, and this year, the excitement of turning 21. In Wisconsin this also means it's finally perfect summer weather... in the 70s most days and not too hot like it has been for the last couple of weeks!

I know I haven't been posting much in the last few weeks, and it's honestly because it's just been a crazy busy month. I'm sorry!! My internship keeps me busy for 12 hours a day (from waking up at 6am to returning home around 6pm) and then in the evenings I usually have some sort of plan, in addition to jam-packed weekends trying to fit everything else in my life into my only free 48 hours. Tomorrow I'll share some of the fun things I was up to in July, but in the meantime here is my curated playlist I've had on repeat!

July's playlist was definitely a chill one. For a good part of the month I felt really out of it mentally, and as cliche as this sounds, I SWEAR it's because Mercury was in retrograde!!!! Lol, I'm not really an expert on what that even means but I knew something was off for a majority of July and this is the only explanation that I can give. Hopefully things turn around after we get out of this phase tomorrow! Nonetheless, this means I was listening to some pretty lowkey music, but I think we are all used to that by now...

Some new releases worth mentioning:

One of my all time favorite bands, Whitney, is releasing a new album at the end of this month. In July they pre-released a second song from the album called "Valleys," and it's incredible. I can't wait for the new album to come out!

If you guys followed along first semester, you might remember the pure obsession my roommates and I have with King Princess (specifically "1950"). She pre-released another song from her upcoming album this month called "Prophet" and I love it. She's seriously so cool in... the most unusual way? Haha.

Bon Iver came out with another new song, "Faith". I added this song to the playlist but to be completely honest I've only listened to it once or twice. I'm not sure how I really feel about it yet... Just mentioning because his concert in June was so fabulous he deserves the recognition ;)

A new-to-me artists, Summer Salt, released a new album in July. "Honeyweed" is the album title and the song itself is great, but my favorite song by the band (and one of my top songs on this playlist) is Candy Wrappers. Soooo goood. Summer Salt will actually be playing at a tiny venue (one of my favorite coffee shops) in Milwaukee tomorrow night and I'm considering buying last minute tickets!

Speaking of last minute tickets, I saw Still Woozy on Tuesday night in Milwaukee and it was so much fun! He's one of my favorite artists right now. His songs are all pretty similar, but I love his music nonetheless.
