New York, New York

As of 7 AM, I hopped on a plane en route to NYC, my favorite city in the world. By the time you're reading this, I am most likely frolicking around the Big Apple and eating far too much food and shopping a little more than usual. I can not wait to share about the outfits I'm wearing, the people I'm meeting (eep!), and the Smart Girls Summit!

I've been to New York a few times but I'm always dying to try the best places. Leave a comment with suggestions!

Have a fabulous week!

Happy Fourth!

After spending two days in the woods (more on that later) I could not be happier to celebrate the Fourth of July to finish off my last week here in Wisconsin before heading to NYC and Rhode Island on Monday morning. Tonight I am going to a concert at Summerfest, a huge music festival here, and I couldn't be more excited. Wherever you are, or however you celebrate, have a safe and wonderful day.

Have a fabulous Fourth of July!

What I Do When I'm Bored

Summer can be challenging because having so much freedom to the point where you actually need to entertain yourself is actually a struggle. Just like anyone else, I definitely succumb to a few guilty pleasures on summer days when I don't have anything to do. In a blogging world where everyone seems to live a fabulous, entertaining, beautiful life, I find it really interesting to hear about what bloggers do when they're alone and bored.

Basically, when I'm bored, I have a feast. I eat anything from cherries to chips and salsa to chocolate chips... or all three. But, let's be honest, who doesn't love going to town in the kitchen and seeing what you can find. Fun fact: My latest addiction is vanilla soymilk. I could drink the whole carton if I weren't careful!

Another thing I do when I'm bored is go on runs. I don't talk about this too much on the blog, but I have panic attacks before going to any social scene. I'm actually not kidding. I'm super awkward and people just kind of make me uncomfortable in general, so running really helps me to calm down. It's also super beneficial to balance out all the snacks I'm consuming, ha.

Finally, I love organizing and cleaning my room. One of my guilty pleasures is updating my inspiration board in my room and blasting music while cleaning out my drawers or my closet. Another fun fact, I don't have a messy room. Like, it's almost always clean unless I'm having a mental breakdown that week and can't muster any self-control. The majority of my closest friends have super messy rooms and it literally boggles my mind how they can live in such a disaster zone. It scares me.

What do you do when you're bored? I'd love to try new things, haha.

Handling Difficult Situations

I'm not going to lie, I'm not an incredibly nice person 100% of the time; my inner bitch doesn't always stay so internal. However, it isn't hard for me to try and analyze both sides of the story when I'm in a difficult situation. I don't struggle to understand other people's perspective, and I think that's why I might come off a little blunt or abrasive, because I know what the other person might be feeling and I'm not afraid to share what I'm really feeling too.

I have a friend who constantly gets upset over the littlest things. It's frustrating because anything anyone does she always seems to make a problem out of it. Do you have one of those friends? It makes it challenging to do what you want without feeling like you know you won't be getting someone else's stamp of approval. It's important to realize that when you're trying to work out a situation with someone that you're completely honest. I could probably be a professional compulsive liar when it comes to anything and everything, but when someone is seriously overdramatizing a situation, it's always best to deal with the problem openly and truthfully to avoid getting bit in the back by one of your lies later on.

Red, White, and Blue Hues

Channeling my inner Amy Stone was the highlight of shooting this outfit post. I love America and I love the patriotic look I'm sharing today for a little Fourth of July outfit inspiration- enjoy!

dress // espadrilles (old, similar here) // sunglasses

This scalloped dress is a new favorite of mine, and I look forward to wearing it a ton this summer, especially next week in New York! In addition, I'm loving the bandana headband trick I tried out here. I always thought it was a cute idea, but I wasn't quite sure if I could pull it off. To my surprise, it made for the perfect way to incorporate a little red into my outfit.

I am heading up north with a few friends today to go whitewater rafting and to enjoy nature for a few days before returning home for a concert on the night of the fourth and then heading to the lake house for a few days before leaving for the East Coast... what a week!

Special note- I am collaborating with citrus & style today to share our Fourth of July looks together. Stop by her blog and say hello :)

What are you wearing for the fourth?

PS- Happy July; rabbit, rabbit!!!
