Dorm Room Inspiration

College is progressively becoming more and more real. I have been talking to my roomie a ton lately and as much as i am getting more excited, I also feel extra nervous and unprepared! My mom is booking her flights out for move-in and orientation, and my job as of right now, as far as I'm concerned, is simply to shop and prepare for decorating my dorm!

My roommate and I decided if she got our fridge, I'd get the area rug. We agreed on this one and we are both obsessed with it! Seriously, isn't it perfect?! I think we are going to do a lot of whites and turquoise, and then that pop of bright pink for the rug. All that's left is just ordering it!

Below is my bedding inspiration. The bedding I tagged above comes in quite a few colors, including a light grey and a turquoise trim. I really am torn between the two!

I'm still undecided if I think I'll want/need a headboard for my bed (I'm leaning against it), and how I want to do my wall... gallery wall, lights, photos, cork board... so many fun options!

How did you / do you plan to decorate your freshman dorm?!

  1. I did a whole post on my freshman dorm if you are interested! I love dorm decor:
I can't wait to see your dorm!

  2. Love all of this inspiration! One of my biggest tips for decorating college dorms is to bring all the decor pieces you won't have access to buying once you're at school. It's fun to take your tip decorating because it gives you something to do in your down time or when you're feeling home sick, so don't feel like it has to be perfect the first day!

  3. I'm so excited to see your dorm room- your color scheme is so cute! I would say yes to the headboard if I were you, I bought one for my bedroom a few months ago and love it! Wayfair has some cute, moderately priced ones!

  4. I'm excited to decorate my dorm room as well, I can't wait to see how yours turns out!

  5. I just ordered similar bedding from Pbteen! I'm so excited to use it in my college apartment. I didn't have the chance to get a headboard my freshman year because my school had built in daybeds. If it would have been different, I would definitely have DIY'd one! Can't wait to see how your dorm turns out!

    xoxo, Vern

  6. Here's my dorm room tour on my blog! It's definitely not as cute as what you're planning out, but my biggest tip is to be realistic about how much space you'll have--you'll want to have more space rather than cramming a lot of furniture in.

  7. My roomie and I are just starting the same process! We've decided on a similar color scheme, but we're using pops of lavender instead of turquoise. So excited to see how your dorms turns out :) XO, Nicole

  8. This is super cute! I know you will have the best decorated room of all! What font did you use for your graphic?

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment, I love hearing your thoughts! xo
