Where'd You Go, Bernadette... Help Needed!

My favorite month of the year...

Something about my birthday month has me swooning over the entire 31 days we have coming our way. School starts in less than three weeks, but I still have a vacation to look forward to, and plenty of time to brush up on my field hockey skills before tryouts. Also, I have a little time to finish up Where'd You Go, Bernadette...

I really need your opinion. I haven't even made it halfway through this book and I'm ready to toss it out my window and forget about it. I'm bored and frankly, the book is just not interesting to me at all. If you've read it, please let me know if it gets better! I've heard so many great things that are encouraging me to keep reading, but I really don't know if I can! Even my mom and best friend read it and told me it's fabulous. I hate to ask for your help for the second time in one week, but desperate times call for desperate measures...

xoxo

  1. I enjoyed it but it grabbed me fairly early on so it could be that the narrative, style or subject just don't connect with you. What makes you want to throw it out the window? The characters? The format? A complete lack of connection to the plot?

  2. I tried to start it while traveling about a week ago and I couldn't even get more than a few pages in because of how bored I was... I plan to read a little farther but if it doesn't pick up I won't continue!

  3. Life is too short to read a book you're not interested in! Sometimes you just don't connect with the book! Find another one that you can't put down!

  4. Keep going! I felt the same way, but after half way the book began to pick up with tremendous speed. It became my favorite book in the past couple months!

  5. I thought I was the only one! I picked it up at Barnes & Noble and just lost interest in it so quickly!

  6. I was soooo bored for the first 75% of the book but then it got really interesting and I couldn't put it down!!! I actually ended up staying up until 4 in the morning to see how it ended! I promise it gets better (although the ending isn't the best I must say - it seemed a bit abrupt if you ask me).

  7. Hahaha - I 100% agree with Laura! You need to push through it - it gets interesting even though the ending is a bit weird. I definitely think that given all the good reviews, once you start reading it and it doesn't pick up it is frustrating... but I did enjoy it once I got hooked on the mystery.

  9. The book gets better!! I was in the same boat, literally wanted to call it quits at page 50...but give it a chance and I hope you like it if you finish it :) The mother/daughter dynamic gets more interesting!
