A Personal Update on My Trip

Hiiiii! I've been a little quiet over here for the last couple of weeks as I have been with my family on the East Coast. I have been posting on Instagram stories, but haven't had much time to sit down and write blog posts. So, I wanted to give you all a little update on my trip! Obviously, we are still in the middle of a pandemic, and I have not been very clear about the details of this trip. I want to be transparent and clear the air on a few things.

If you are a longtime follower, you might recognize this trip, as I go on a very similar one every summer, usually in August. Unfortunately, this year, despite the pandemic, we had to have our annual trip a little early because my grandma is really sick. As much as I didn't want to share that detail on the internet, a nosy (and aggressive) follower was accusing me of traveling out of "boredom" in the middle of a pandemic, and I wanted to emphasize that is not the case. I'm sure she was not the only one who had these thoughts-- which is fair, and why I wanted to clear things up on here. Like I said, I never explained that this trip was more essential than it was a frivolous vacation.

The people at highest risk are people like my grandma, who is the last person I would want to risk getting the virus. So, of course, our entire family has been taking extreme precautions to be safe. I have not been showing that on my social media, which I completely take responsibility for. I should be a better role model, and I recognize that. However, I do want to remind everyone that so many things happen behind the scenes (in everyone's lives!) that don't make it to Instagram every day. Rest assured, we are all doing the best we can to be safe and to stay healthy, and I am going to be better about making this clear on my social media.

That's all I really have to say. There are so many of you that are so sweet and supportive, and you let me live my life how I choose. I appreciate that more than you know, and I want to say thank you. I absolutely love sharing my life on here and on Instagram... it is so fun for me not only to share but also to connect with many of you. As a small influencer, I don't really get "haters" too often, but when I do, it's hard for me not to take it personally. People can say whatever they want to about me, and that's fine, but when my family is involved, especially when there is no accuracy to the statements, I am not going to sit back and let them be attacked.

I think during these times it is so important to give people the benefit of the doubt and trust that we all want this pandemic to end, and we are all taking the precautions that are necessary to keep ourselves and others as safe as possible.

So, moving on! I have one week left in the Hamptons and I'm loving every minute of it. It's raining out today, but hopefully, the sun will come back soon and I can spend more time by the pool, reading, and enjoying my family's company!

xoxo

  1. Ugh, I’m sorry you had to address this—but I do respect that you did! I am lucky enough to be able to go back and forth to the coast this summer while social distancing/keeping a small “footprint,” so I assumed the same of you. I didn’t consider how important it is to share the mask I wore in addition to the “highlight reel” either so I appreciate you sharing this post! I’ve been enjoying following along with your trip SO MUCH & hope you will feel comfortable continuing to share.

  2. So frustrating to have to explain yourself with something like this but you did it in such a graceful manner! Props to you for being able to have family time and enjoyment on your trip! Your instragram stories have been absolutely to die for!
Enjoy the rest of your stay!
    xoxo,
    Ally

  3. I totally understand and you shouldn't have to explain yourself, but it says a lot about you the way you did. this wasn't defensive at all and I would argue that visiting your grandma is essential especially in these times. you do you!
