Random Things I Couldn't Go A Day Without

When I first got to college last year I realized that 1) I really underpacked, and 2) because of that, I know what's essential in my everyday life. I can justify #1 by reminding you all of my first-time-off-to-college horror story: I was on a two week vacation extravaganza extremely late August and I missed my flight home, so I had to get on a new flight two days later, and I made it home with only 24 hours to unpack, repack, and get on another plane to go to college (yeah, it was hectic). It's no wonder I underpacked and forgot things, right? I want to share a few things that are totally essential, that I would never forget to pack, anywhere I go:

how cute is this old photo I found? from this beauty post when my friends did my makeup! you can see in that post how crazy long my hair was!!!

My Bobbi Brown gel moisturizer has been a game changer for me since 2013. In late middle school/early high school I had little bouts of acne here and there, mostly because my face was constantly oily. I forget where I was when someone told me I needed to switch from a moisturizer "lotion" to a "gel," but they really changed the game for me. I couldn't love my gel moisturizer more! It's so lightweight, hydrating, and leaves my face feeling smooth, clean, a little dewy, and perfectly balanced. No more greasy/oily skin for me! It's a little pricey, but it takes me at least 6-8 months of once-a-day use to go through the tiny jar. A little bit goes a long way! I apply it when I get out of the shower.

I am a freak about my sunglasses. I've probably mentioned this before, but since high school my close friends have nicknamed me "sprout" because I used to joke that on my bad days I looked like an alfalfa sprout... like, I don't know where I came up with that, but my sunglasses are the quintessential "sprout life" look for me. Lol, that probably makes no sense, but I think they make me look like a bug, and I love it, and bugs are on the ground... near the sprouts... HAHA okay whatever. I just love my sunglasses. Even on my worst days, no makeup, horrible hair, I put on my trusty sprout Ray-Bans and I feel fabulous! My sunnies are the brown/brown (brown tortoise frames with brown lenses!) for reference. This particular pair also comes in brown tortoise with green frames, which were shockingly very unflattering on me. So... if you think you might have a similar situation, do the brown/brown and we can be twinning.

My Mark and Graham leather bag is my best friend. My dad got me this bag for my sixteenth (I think?) birthday, and now three years later it is still one thing that I probably grab and bring with me at least somewhere once a day. Whenever anyone asks me about where to find a great leather bag (which strangely happens more often than you'd think), I recommend this bag without even having to think. Not only does it come in a million colors with free monogramming, but it truly is made of high quality, deliciously gorgeous leather, and it is the perfect size for a classic, timeless, you'll-have-it-forever, leather tote.

So this was totally random, but I had so much fun writing this post!!! Let me know if you guys enjoyed this type of thing, and I can do a volume two!

What can't you live without?
xoxo

  2. I constantly have oily skin which leads to breakouts...or extremely dry skin. I have always used a lotion moisturizer but maybe switching to a gel will help :) Thanks!
